Koko master D’banj‘s anticipated show – D’Kings Men Live in Concert took place on Sunday 23rd June 2013 at the Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Hosted by comedian AY Makun and media personality Toolz, the event saw celebrities including Lynxxx, Efya, Tee-Y Mix, Fade Ogunro, Adams Ibrahim, Kemi “Lala” Akindoju, OC Ukeje, Ikechukwu “Killz”, Timaya and Noble Igwe in attendance.

Rocking the stage with their hit tracks were American rap star 2 Chainz as well as D’banj (of course), Naeto C, Fally Ipupa, Olamide, Phyno and South African group Mafikizolo.

Just before we bring you all the fab shots from the event, check out some of the fashion choices.

D’banj in Okunoren Twins
It was D’banj‘s night and his style certainly proved it.

The “Finally” star arrived at the DKM Live in Concert show in a custom black tuxedo by Okunoren Twins. The single button suit made by the Nigerian design label features lapels of $100 dollar bills.

He styled the suit which reportedly costs $ 25,000 with a white shirt, a black velvet bow tie, a diamond ring, spiked black shoes and dark shades.

Kenya Moore
She is “Gone with the wind fabulous…” If you are a fan of Bravo‘s hit reality show Real Housewives of Atlanta (Just like me), then the name Kenya Moore will instantly ring a bell.
The 42 year old reality TV star/actress took to the D’Kings Men Live in Concert show in a white ensemble.
With her brown locks cascading down her shoulders, Kenya showed off her hot bod in a strapless white corset, white pants and cream pumps.
She finished the look with gold hoop earrings, a gold chain, smoky eyes and pink lipstick.

2 Chainz in Givenchy
2 Chainz brought all his hip swag to the show on Sunday evening. The American rap star opted for a black shirt with red-and-white print detail from Givenchy’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection.
He styled the shirt also worn by Rihanna, with a red hoody, red leather pants, a cap (which he turned backwards), dark shades and of course lots of jewelry including a gold Chanel necklace.
The 35 year old “Birthday Song” rap act completed his look with black Nike Jordans which features white-and-red stripes.

Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi in Virgos Lounge
On-air-personality Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi also attended D’Kings Men Live in Concert show on Sunday evening. She chose a multi-coloured sequined jacket from Virgos Lounge.
The “Aggy” jacket was paired with a black camisole, black pants, black high pumps and a black clutch. Opting for an up do, the look was completed with hoop earrings, smoky eyes and red lipstick.
This Virgos Lounge jacket has also been worn by Angela Simmons and Adaku Ufere (Check out the BN Pick Your Fave feature)

Hosts – AY Makun & Toolz
Comedian AY Makun and media personality Toolz hosted D’banj’s D’Kings Men Live in Concert show on Sunday – and from what we heard they were hilarious.
AY looked sharp in a white single button jacket which features black-and-white striped lapels. He paired it with a white shirt, black pants, dark shades and black loafers.
Toolz wore 3 different outfits at the concert but she arrived in an aquamarine-green dress with a plunging neckline. With her hair pulled back, she opted for highlighted eyebrows and pink lipstick.
The dress was styled with gold earrings, a gold cuff bracelet and red peep-toes.

See Student Who Gave Birth Inside Toilet In OAU & Her Baby; Plus The Updates

When the news first broke, a lot of people vilified her. It was reported that she wanted to get rid of what many would describe as a bundle of joy. People thus wondered why a 22-year-old undergraduate would try to flush away her baby in one of the toilets in Moremi Hall, her hall of residence at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State.

The photo above is that Oyinlola Rotimi, a 400-Level student of OAU and her baby. She has now revealed the circumstances that led to her controversial delivery of the baby inside toilet...

Segun Olugbile and Sodiq Oyeleke of Punch narrate the dramatic story of this 22-year-old student. Without clarifying the circumstances that led to the delivery in the toilet, many on the social media put Miss Oyinlola Rotimi on trial.

The student of Agricultural Extension and Rural Sociology at OAU delivered a baby boy last Wednesday.

While the news went round the campus, the traumatised young mother was hurriedly taken to the institution’s Health Centre by two cleaners, Mrs. Shipebi Grace and Mrs. Cecilia Ologbenla. The social media was further flooded with stories that Oyinlola wanted to kill her baby. The OAU management investigated the matter and found out it was not true. Rotimi, who was discharged from the hospital on Friday, has also narrated her own side of the story.

In spite of the trauma she had passed through since last Wednesday, the student, a native of Ijabe, a border town between Osun and Kwara states, says she is happy that the embarrassment she received from the controversy that surrounded the birth of her baby has turned into a blessing for her.

She says the baby’s birth has made her more popular and important in the society.

‘God has the best plan for me’

“Why would I flush or kill my baby after going through the pains of carrying him for about good nine months? I am not heartless and I thank God for my life and the safe delivery. I know God has the best plan for me and my baby. I seriously appreciate the cleaners for their assistance because I got here (health centre) before I understood everything that happened to me. I am happy that I am alive and my baby is alive too. I’m also using this opportunity to thank the VC, the doctors and nurses, my lecturers and everybody because they all stood by me. They all became my father, my mother and everything to me.

“Right now, I can call myself a celebrity and definitely I’m going to be greater than a celebrity. My baby too is going to be great. Look at the circumstance that surrounds his birth, just some days old, he is already all over in the news around the world and everybody is happy to see him or hear about his story. He will surely go beyond where I am now. He has turned me into a kind of celebrity. ”

Circumstances surrounding the baby’s birth

“I was purging all through the night and I had no idea of what labour pain was all about. Actually, I was feeling pressed, I can’t call it a labour pain because I was visiting the toilet all through the night till that morning. I just went to the toilet to go and purge when I noticed something just came out of me which I found out was the baby. The baby entered the closet. I was just there shouting, bleeding and people who saw the blood came out to help me alongside the baby.

“I was really scared! I was not expecting a baby. I went to the toilet but seeing a baby was terrifying because I was not expecting him or her to come out yet. It is absolutely not true that I took to my heels when people came to help me. It happened in Moremi Hall toilet and the toilet is a public one where everybody takes their bath, fetch water and clean up. So, some people were around fetching water, having their bath as usual, while I was in the toilet planning to defecate. My friend called the cleaner for help because she was an elderly woman. I was very scared and people around too couldn’t help because we are all young female students. The cleaner later helped to carry the baby out and brought it to the Health Centre along with me.”

Her plan for the baby

“I will continue to keep him more handsome, healthier and nurture him to attain greater height in life. But what he will become later in life is not for me to decide but he will definitely become what God wants him to become. I will just try to train him in God’s way and I am sure His (God) plan for his life will be realised.”

The bean cake she ate deceived her – CSO

According to the institution’s Chief Security Officer, Mr. Paul Ogidi, Rotimi thought she had stomach upset instead of labour pains because of the bean cake she took before going to bed.

“She got to campus late at night on Tuesday and it was learnt that she could not immediately get herself something to eat but later resolved to buy beans cake within the campus. After eating the snack, she complained severely of running stomach, urinated and defecated at regular intervals.

“She felt her stomach disorder was caused by the bean cake that she took the previous night – not knowing it was labour pains.”

University law does not forbid pregnancy - OAU

Authorities of OAU have blamed the improper use of the social media for the allegation that Oyinlola attempted to flush her baby away.

The Head of Public Relations, Mr. Biodun Olarenwaju, who spoke on behalf of the management, described the incident as a “social media rumour.”

He said, “Social media is designed primarily to disseminate information. But in the Nigerian context, many people disseminate rumours. The only information that should be seen there should be those persons who have the authority to speak concerning that particular incident.

“The only truth in the social media episode is that a bouncing baby boy was delivered in the toilet of the female hostel in our university. Other tales on the social media were totally incorrect. Students should not encourage rumour mongering because of the image of the person involved. They have to be careful not to make rumour the news.”

He explained that it was legal for the student to have delivered the baby in the school, stating that universities are institutions for adults.

“It is not a crime for a student to be pregnant. There is no law or decree that states that a student should be punished, an adult for that matter, for getting pregnant. And there is no law in this university that states that an undergraduate cannot become pregnant,” he added.

‘My friend didn’t plan to kill her baby’

Rotimi’s friend, Oluwayemisi Satope, who was in Room 103, Block B of Moremi Hall, together with the undergraduate mother, the night before the incident, said Oyinlola was willing to have the baby.

She explained that there was no attempt by them to kill the boy.

She added, “The truth of the matter is that we don’t know how to go about it when we saw the baby. It was our first time and we didn’t want to make a mistake. I had to call Mama Cleaner to assist us. Immediately it happened, I was the first person to shout for help and two cleaners appeared to assist.

“Diana (Rotimi) had to spend the night on campus to enable her to prepare for her 8:00 am examination the next day, because she stays off-campus. That mid-night, she started complaining of stomach upset and was visiting toilet regularly. A few minutes to 7:00am, she went to the toilet to defecate but delivered a baby.”

Students name baby after VC

And as soon as the birth and survival of the baby became known on campus, students in their characteristic manner, launched into an unsolicited naming feast for the baby. Before the official naming ceremony scheduled to hold on Wednesday (tomorrow), OAU students have named him after the institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Bamitale Omole.

At the Anglo-Moz Car Park of the university, they gathered and named the baby Moremigbemi (Moremi-blesses-me), Oriyomi (My-head-saves-me), Oluwadayisi (God-protects-this), Eniolorunopa (He-who-God-does-not-kill), Bamitale (Be-with-me-permanently) Omole.

Others at the Moremi Hall named the baby Orisamoremi (Deity Moremi), Moremidayisi (Moremi-protects-this), Omomoremi (Child-of-Moremi), Olorunwa (God-exists), Oniyapupo (One-with-many-mothers) Moremioku (Moremi-is-alive), Iyabo (Mother-Moremi-is-Back), among others.

Moremi is a mythical legend of the Yoruba race.

We forced the door open to rescue Oyinlola and her baby – Cleaners
Also, the two cleaners, Mrs. Shipebi Grace and Mrs. Cecilia Ologbenla, in a chat with our correspondents, said there was no evidence to prove that Oyinlola wanted to kill her baby.

The cleaners noted that they had to force the door open when they were called to ensure the safety of Oyinlola and her baby who was crying.

According to them, the baby was in the water closet when they entered the toilet.

“She would not have wanted to attempt to kill the baby the way we saw her. She only panicked when we forced the door in. We had to force the door in because of the cry of the baby. In fact, it was one of them that came to call us, but you know some students are impatient. They didn’t confirm what happened before they started spreading rumour.”

But the undergraduate father keeps mum

Meanwhile, efforts made by our correspondents to speak with the baby’s father proved abortive. He is a 400 Level student of Mechanical Engineering, and is sitting for the second semester examination currently on at the institution.

One of his friends who spoke on the condition of anonymity explained that the young father is very sober about the development. The friend alleged that the young man and Rotimi had been friends for some time. Along the line, Oyinlola got pregnant and they decided not to abort it in order not to compound their ‘sin’

Afrobeats in Central Park! Femi Kuti Performs with American Rap Star Common in New York, USA

Femi Kuti and his band, Positive force were the headlining acts at the recently concluded Central Park SummerStage concert in New York on Sunday, 23rd June, 2013. The show also featured performances from rising acts Sinkane and King Britt

One of the major highlights of the concert was a surprise guest appearance from American Rap star Common who jumped on stage and performed a freestyle during Femi’s cover of Fela’s “Water No Get Enemy.”

Is your Style Written in the Stars? Find out what the Zodiac Signs say about your Style

A few days ago I was reading a book titled ‘Love Stars’ – It’s basically about how different Zodiac signs interact in sex, relationships and work. I skipped through the pages and reached my sign -Taurus – and the first line I read explained how Taurus loves to wear luxury items, would do anything to get them and has a unique voice. The last part I totally agree with based on past experiences. However, the fact that I would do anything to get luxury clothes is something they definitely got wrong.

Are they trying to tell me that just because I was born on a particular day in a particular month, I automatically have a predetermined way of dressing? That all Taurus would do literally anything to get the luxury life we think we deserve?

Driven by curiosity I decided to Google some other signs, compare to some of my friends & family and see just how true this is. From Sagittarius and Aries to Virgo and Gemini I found out that some of my friends & family are ruled by their stars and what the universe says they should love.

Just for fun, here are other signs that are listed among Zodiac signs and what their signs say their style orientation is.

Libras (September 23rd – October 22nd)

Libras take their time in making decisions just like the Blind Lady of Justice. Whether it is deciding on what to wear or what to buy, the Libra takes his/her time to make the right decision. They love to dress in a classical way , always adding a trendy twist to their outfits to still be on trend.

They follow trends but make sure their trade marks are always included. They love blue hues and their make up looks are often very neutral. They love to expose their lower backs so they definitely have cropped tops in their wardrobes.

Aries (March 21st – April 20th)

This is the first sign of the Zodiac and is represented by the ram. Apparently, the ram loves the colour red, are adventurous when it comes to style and new trend and always want to stand out of the crowd.

They’re often dressed for power and see a direct link between what they wear and whatever position they hold in life. They dress to fit the occasion and believe that everyone should always be dressed to impress.

Aries also loves head coverings like hats, scarves, turbans etc. and most times cannot be caught without ne on.

Aquarius (January 20th February 19th)

Aquarius is represented by water (Aqua) and loves regular fashion and clothes. They often shop at thrift stores and take pleasure in finding unique & vintage clothing and turning them into wearable pieces. They follow trends in their own unique way and often wear the original version of the trends instead of the modernised version.

A typical Aquarius person loves diversity in fashion and mostly has inexpensive clothing. When it comes to make up they don’t do too much, but always go all out with their hair.

If there is anything they love the most, it’s their ankles. So, anklets and ankle tattoos are a must.

Cancers (June 21st – July 22nd)

Cancers, represented by the crab are not adventurous when it comes to clothing. When they find a style that suits them, they stick to it no matter what. They love to infuse their sex into every outfit; If you’re a male cancer, then you always look buff and masculine and the same goes for the female and her femininity.

The Cancer tends to spend a lot of money on lingerie – they are very sultry and so love things that make them feel that way. They always look great in green. When it comes to make up, they go for a natural look that isn’t a hassle to apply. They never do too much to their hair and like simple hairstyles like ponytails.

When it comes to showing cleavage, the cancer is an expert. They are always seen in v-neck clothes and love to show it off.

Capricorns (December 22nd – January 19th)

Capricorn, the mountain goat, always goes for a smart casual look. Suits, heels, blazers, tailored trousers etc are always found in their wardrobes. They often prefer to buy things that are on sale and are practical for work and keep practical hairstyles too like short bobs and pony tails.

They love a good bargain and will rather tailor a dress than buy from the shop rack. Irrespective of that, they splurge on jewellery and always wear at least 3 pieces.

Geminis (May 21st – June 20th)

The twins are full of energy and charisma and have a keen mind when it comes to fashion. However, they get bored easily and are always looking for the next big thing in fashion and style. They are label sensitive but so long as it fits, they will rock that outfit.

Gemini’s are typically more money sensitive when it comes to spending on clothes and are minimalists when it comes to make up. They love to show off their arms, so they usually wear tank tops and sleeveless dresses.

Leos (July 23rd – August 22nd)

Leos are the lions and always want the best of everything. It may be unaffordable , but as long as they want it, they will find a way to get it. They shop according to brands and labels and are always on trend in fashion. They do not care about comfort, as long as the clothing item has an expensive name, they will buy it.

The lions love bold colours and prints, taking fashion to the next level and are experts when it comes to choosing well tailored suits.

They love to show off their back so backless tops and boob tubes are a must. They love bold statement jewellery and often buy them in the gold colour family.

Pisces (February 20th – March 20th)

Pisces represented by the fish are not generally inclined to clothes and fashion. If they had their way they would walk around naked. They long for flexibility and ease in their outfits but own a lot of shoes.

They often go for non traditional pieces of jewelry like toe rings, tongue piercings and belly rings and like long pretty hair.

Scorpios (October 23rd – November 22nd)

The Scorpions are not led by labels and wear any type of clothing to suit the occasion. They like to follow trends but dress in only what they believe suits them. They have an ever evolving personality and so does their style.

They change their hairstyles a lot and like to wear luxurious fabrics of undergarments in bold colours like red and black.

Sagittarius (November 23rd – December 21st)

The Sagittarius is represented by a Centaur (Half man, Half horse)  and just like the horse loves the outdoors and their style reflects this. They want clothes that permit a lot of movement and freedom suitable for their active lifestyle.

They often wear their clothes until they are totally worn out before replacing them. Most times they do not fit in social events, but they do not mind because they want to be liked for their intellect. They do not wear jewellery or make up and most times grow out their natural hair.

Taurus (April 21st – May 20th)

The bull is comfort hungry. They love the finer things in life and would do almost anything to have them. They’re not as adventurous as Aries when it comes to trying new trends but will go all out for luxury clothing. They always look good on neutral toned clothing and even feel the need to glam up casual clothing.

They love accessories and the accessories always looks good on them.

Virgos (August 23rd – September 22nd)

The Virgo (virgo) is very particular about taking care of their possessions. They are minimalists and do not partake in trends that limit their movements. The virgin spends a lot of money on their clothes and often does not buy from the sales rack.

For a Virgo, clothes are timeless and should last a lifetime. They wear a lot of natural colours and little or no jewellery. They love to show off their stomachs and often keep their mid riff toned up with exercise.
