Drawing up a list of Nollywood actresses with broken homes comes really
easy. Mention five random actresses and you will find out that, at
least, three of them have been in one unstable relationship or the
other. Many of them have also been in multiple failed relationships.
There
is the belief that because they are popular, they get more love
advances from men than an average lady. They also get more tempted with
gifts and
money, which, most times, are difficult to resist.
In
a chat with a respected movie producer, he explained that actresses
worldwide are sough after by rich men and men in power. And Nollywood is
not an exception.
“It is not easy for these actresses too. As
human beings, we all want the best for ourselves. You have an actress,
who is married and a top political figure is promising her an amount
money
she and her husband can never make in their life time just to sleep
with her. When the husband finds out, they fight and the marriage is
dissolved. The next thing you hear, the girl has gone ahead to build a
house in Lekki. There are many instances like that. Have you seen an
actress who marries an average man? They all marry rich men, even when
they are married, richer men are still chasing after them,” the producer
said.
This is not the case for all other Nollywood marriages.
There have been cases of husband snatching among actresses. Also, there
are many, who claim that they were abused by their husbands hence, they
decided to opt out of the marriage.
This, however, does not mean
that there are not some who are happily married with children and have
retained this status for years.
there are actresses, who despite
the temptations, still remain with their husbands, and still believe in
the sanctity of the marriage institution. They also serve as good role
models for others, who probably have seen the industry as a hotbed of
failed marriages.
