There’s something tacky about people giving themselves credit. We Nigerians frown upon it. And it gets worse when the credit is undeserved. Young rapper Yung6ix knows this, but he’s thrown caution out the window and invited a backlash with his latest tweets.
Where we go place eedris abudulkareem and Vic O...lol

Monica Ogah winner of the musical reality show, Project Fame Season Four has debuted an album titled: ‘Something in August’ that consists of 11 tracks and featured artistes like her immediate project fame winner Chidinma and Wizboy.

Monica a native of Benue State in Nigeria, recently shared her experience after Project Fame with BOLAOLORUNTITO ADEBOLA and talks about her new album. Excerpts...

How long have you been singing?

I started singing at Sunday school service in the church; my mum was the choir mistress, so singing is what has been part of my family because it has been in our vein.

Is music a career to you or what?

Music is my life, music is something I love doing, like I said earlier, I grow up in a family where music runs through us, music is my passion and it’s what I love doing, can’t stop doing music, I have to keep doing it because I love to do it and isn’t that I don’t have other things doing but basically I can’t leave music and music can’t leave me because it’s my passion and I love doing it.

How do compare your album to other artistes?

Monica Ogah’s album is different from others because of its originality, more so I don’t want to sound like anybody, I don’t want to look like anyone, I just want to be me and make the originality in me stand out from others.

What should be expected in your album?

Well, my fans and the music lovers should expect mix-feelings from my album because it is a total package album which contain dancing, inspiration and courageous songs, if you want to dance, you will find a danceable song, if you want to get inspired, there’s inspirational song as well, the album consist of different kinds of music in one album.

Which of your songs are you promoting for the album?

Most of the songs in the album but ‘Body Hug’ is my number one song followed by ‘Suddenly’ which featured Chidinma, ‘End of Story’ and ‘Tomorrow’ produced by TY MIX.

Your songs have been played across the broadcast stations, has response been encouraging?

Well, so far the response has been very encouraging and I’m very much happy with the feedback on the album.

Following the positive response, have you been receiving calls for shows?

Yes, I’m getting couple of calls for shows but it is a gradual process, you can’t just break into the market just like that, so I am still in that process and it is not as if I didn’t get calls for shows, they are calling but it’s a gradual process.

Your album title ‘Sometime in August’, what the secret behind it?

Well; Sometime in August is today, Sometime in August I launched the album and Sometime in August I was born while a lot of things happened to me in Sometime August.

Has the Project Fame platform really helped you musically?

Project Fame has really helped, it isn’t easy to start music from the very scratch, it’s a big platform for someone to start music career, they give you the name, people recognize you because of the long days you are being featured on different television station across the nation and people recognize you immediately they see you, so it is easier to ride on that platform to start the journey from the nowhere because it is really more difficult to start the journey afresh because before you register your face and name in the industry, so the platform MTN giving to the young ones is really a good platform.

How has life been after Project Fame?

Life after project fame hasn’t been easy, but I give thanks to almighty God for been with me throughout and also to my family for the continuous support to my music career. But life after project fame is totally different, because you are facing a whole lot of different people, you are competing with the entire world, it’s a different game entirely, the whole West Africa would be watching you and monitoring you and competing with a lot of people to claim your stand in the industry it isn’t easy task, but I think it’s just a process for you to get what you need.

Being a singer do you prefer the digital recording than the live band?

Live band has always been part of me, I sing with the live band in my church before I started using studio and if you give me an option to pick between digital studio and live band, I would pick the live band because it gives me the opportunity to express myself, I won’t be restricted to sing the same way I sing in the album. With live band I have the ability to express myself, though there are other things I could do, it also help you as an artiste to show your diversity, like you are really an artiste, people that see you know this person can sing and I have always chose a live band.

Is any of your songs recorded with a live band in the studio?

In this part of the world it is hard to see a live band studio, but I make sure that some of songs sounded live; if you take time to listening to my songs, like ‘Tomorrow’ sounded as a live band production. But I would love to record in a live recording studio anytime.

What do you do apart from music?

Music is my number one priority; I would have different things doing, but won’t be doing just music, like my mum always said that it’s good when you have several things doing. So music is my number priority, music is my life and it’s my style and every other things I want to add up to it is just like I’m doing it with passion.

What is your relationship with other artiste?

I respect everybody and I have mutual relationship with them, I do respect them because it is not easy to be in the music industry and isn’t easy to be recognized, though we have a lot of artistes out there and the female artistes go through a lot of stress more than the men, so I really appreciate it whenever I see any female artiste, I respect them so much because I personally know it isn’t easy to be an artiste.

After project fame what has change in you?

Well, nothing really changes, you won’t believe it, it’s my normal Monica, I have to be free. I thank God its common from where I come from in Benue State, we all love to be simple with life, though nothing really change in me and the fame which project fame gave me hasn’t gotten into my head because I control it.

How have you been managing with your money and car?

Well, I thank God for my family, though we are not rich, but we are okay, I’m doing good with the money, managing it with my day-to-day activities and the car has been keeping one moving and I thank God for the life giving to me.

I Became Responsible Since I Had My Child – Weird Singer, Terry G Reveals

Gabriel Amanyi is the  that answers the stage name . The singer,  has a lot street followers judging from his type  music, recently spoke with Showtime on his lifestyle, music and other issues.
Surprise! Surprise!! Terry G Cuts Off Dreadlocks Too
You released your new album few months back. How is the album doing in the market?
At least, it’s selling more than pure water because the reception at the moment, has been very encouraging. Most of the songs in the album are already hits and it’s doing well in the market.
What’s the title of the album?
The album is titled, ‘’Book of Ginger .” It contains over 21 tracks and it’s a diversified album where I took time out to showcase the other side of my career that my fans are not familiar with.
You also launched the album in Abuja, why the choice of Abuja?
You know we had some challenges when I was planning the album launch. I wanted to use Eko Hotel and Suites, but the bill was too expensive for me. I even wanted to partner with some brands but did not work out. I couldn’t afford it so I didn’t want to give up because I have never done an album launch in my life before. That was why I decided to move it to Abuja .

We also learnt that you are planning to tour Europe with your music?

Yes, but it actually has to do with my management who do all the arrangement. They are working on it and I know, it’s an Europe tour. It’s expected to last for nearly a month and it’s going to be fun.
What’s happening to your record label?
So far, I’ve always represented TGP Entertainment Records although I didn’t loud it that much. It’s a label owned by myself and all I do is just to work with my management. I will say we are doing well. As board members, we tried to bring up some brands but there were some issues as at then which came up. Along the line, we are trying to work on other acts apart from mainly just doing collaboration. I think I should do something that would profit me and for now, I am the only one on the label. Although my younger brother is signed to the label for now. I want him to create his  brand as well. For now, we are looking forward to signing on new artistes. This is because it has to do with experience so we will not do something that we will start regretting in future
So what is new about Terry G?
So many things. Now, I have a child; I’m a father. His name is Amaniyi Rex, and with him added to my life, he has given me a new life as a father. And this has made me to see the other side of life. It has put me in my right place because when you are thinking about tomorrow, you will want to be more responsible. His birth has helped me a lot and even helped me to stay away from the negative things of life. Also, I’m now focusing on concert and trying to work on my brand by making it accessible and also trying to shoot musical videos.
Did you cut your dreadlocks?
There was a picture I took which looked as if I have shaved my dreadlocks. Seeing the picture people thought I have cut my hair. I never cut my dreadlocks.
But can you change your style some day?
Change is constant and that’s one thing about life. But for now, base on the fact that I portray this image I don’t think I will do so.

You have been keeping a low profile in recent times, what is happening to you?
It’s just that it gets to a level where maturity comes in and you just have to slow down on something’s unlike when one was still a teenager. So, now that one is mature those things one indulge in, becomes distractions .I became responsible since I had my kid . I looked at life in the other way because it worth a lot for one to be responsible as people will like to be or want to learn from you. Now, music is no more a pleasure but a business for me.
Many people  you must take something to be high. Is it actually true when it comes to Terry G?
It is not true. Most of the people around me will testify to that. The only thing I do is, I just smoke my cigarette before going on stage. I don’t drink before mounting the stage to perform. This is because drinking exhausts the energy and am this energetic artist that must not take a risk at all. People also know me as an energetic performer, so, anytime I grace the stage I have to deliver.
How are you rocking fatherhood?
It has been fun and I think I am now cool it has given me the chance to relax and think of a positive life as a father. It has helped me to scare away negative friends and is still building as well
So when are you going to take your baby mama to the altar?
We are making plan for that and when it is time we will let you know
How exactly did you meet your baby mama?
I met her in the United Kingdom. There was a concert I attended in London. It was my first major performance in London. That was where we met. I met her through a friend and we just started chatting. What actually happened was that she got amazed knowing I was Terry G. She wanted to know about me; but when she saw the other side of me, she got interested and realised the difference between Gabriel and Terry G. Now we are able to transform the relationship to a family and I’m more responsible with her beside me.

What I Hate About Men – Mariam Elisha

Click for Full Image Size
Unlike other beauty queens who immediately disappear from the social scene after their reigns, former Miss Valentine, Mariam Elisha has remained in the limelight. she talks about her love life.

Excerpts:

Who’s the man in your life?

I think my relationship is personal to me. I will marry at the right time. I pray it happens soon.

What kind of man would you love to marry?

I want to marry a God fearing man because I always dream of making heaven. I don’t care whether he’s tall , handsome or rich. As long as he has the fear of God in him, and has respect for womanhood, I will marry the person. He must take me for who I am. I’m okay with him.

How many times have you been heartbroken?

Once. I don’t want to talk about it please.

Click for Full Image Size
What do you hate about men?

I hate disappointments and lies. Disappointment, not in the context of when one promises to marry a lady and later on, he didn’t keep to that promise. I mean, when I trust you as a friend and I expect you to keep to that trust and never hurt my feelings.

How do you describe yourself?

I am simply amazing!

You recently contested the Miss Nigeria pageant, what informed that decision?

I have always loved the name-Miss Nigeria and I feel that being Miss Nigeria will provide me the needful platform to affect more lives positively. As you know, I’m into charity and I do a lot of things to assist the poor. At the moment, I have not less than 40 children under my care. It is really pretty difficult coping with these children. I feel I need more helping hands and being Miss Nigeria will probably give me more support to smiles to the lives of these children.

Your dress sense?

It depends on the occasion. Sometimes, I like to look simple, but very dramatic. I am always very simple. When I’m not in the red-carpet mood, I love casual wears.
