Brymo Calls Choc City's Bluff; Says, 'Let's Meet In Court'

Estranged Choc City artiste, Brymo may have called the label's bluff and now ready to bear whatever consequences his action may result into. In a statement released by the singer's management, Brymo disclosed that Choc City has not been straight forward with the messy issue. 

The statement claimed that rather than fulfil its parts, Choc City has been unfaithful about doing what it promised. 

The statement reads;

"On the 30th of October 2013, a meeting was held between Brymo, his Management and representatives of Chocolate City at the Chocolate City office. This was one of many prior attempts at reaching a mutually acceptable resolution of the conflict between the Artiste and the Record Label. 

"After deliberations at the meeting, certain terms were agreed between the parties and Chocolate City promised to capture the terms in an agreement to be signed by both parties. 

"A few days later, Chocolate City sent in a plan with terms which were not reflective of the deliberations and agreements at the said meeting. 

"A similar occurrence had taken place in June when lawyers representing Chocolate City promised to hand Brymo a Statement of Release from the label on the condition that he would give up his (#SonOfaKapenta) album to the label. 

"The artiste had insisted that Chocolate City has no right to the work as he still possessed the rights to the work and the lawyers had failed to provide the release even after Brymo agreed to give up the said album. Please note that the artiste's initial decision to release his work/ earnings was done in good faith and with a desire to reach an amicable settlement. 

"It is becoming apparent that Chocolate City is not acting in the same spirit of good faith. The artiste elected to sever relationships with Chocolate City in May 2013 when Chocolate City consistently failed to fulfill its obligations under the contract. And rather than resolve amicably, the label is devising strategies to ensure that the Artiste remains unproductive. 

"Brymo asserts that under the circumstances of the creation, nature, execution and implementation of his contract with Chocolate City, he is well within his rights as an Artiste and if no amicable resolution is reached, will be willing to defend same under the provision of the Law."

MultiChoice Nigeria presents The Fashion Protégé, Nigeria’s biggest fashion design competition.

The show which is in search of Nigeria’s next big fashion star, was created to celebrate the 20th anniversary of MultiChoice Nigeria. The Fashion Protégé is a 5-episode Nigerian reality television series that will air later this year on DSTV’s AfricaMagic.

Contestants guided by mentors, will compete to be recognized as Nigeria’s next big fashion star.

On deciding to create the show, a representative from MultiChoice Nigeria says “As MultiChoice turns 20, it is important that we invest in our communities that have kept African stories alive and foster the next generation of creative talents. This will create an opportunity for them to tell their own stories through their designs.”

Designers, Fashionistas, Fashionistos, Stylists and every fashion savvy individual, this is an opportunity you cannot miss. Get your creative and resilient spirits energized as you will be tested on how to succeed in the cutthroat fashion industry.

If you know you’ve got all it takes to make it big in fashion, then be ready to prove it.

It’s a few hoops to the finish line, but if you’ve got the talent, then you can be on your way to becoming Africa’s most celebrated budding designer. Simply enter the competition by following these few steps;

• Create your masterpiece (you can enlist a tailor if you don’t have sewing skills)

“Breaking Loose”! Nigerian Design Label Souza presents its Spring/Summer 2014 Collection

Good morning fashionable people. It’s a fabulous Monday and what better way to start a beautiful week of celebrating fashion than with a beautiful collection.

Giving us major inspiration for the morning, Nigerian design label Souza presents its Spring/Summer 2014 collection ”Breaking Loose“.

Created by University of Lagos Accounting graduate, Francisca De-Souza, the design label gives you a womenswear collection filled with separate pieces like jackets, tops with thin straps, high waist tulip skirts, dresses with one shoulder necklines, strapless peplum tops and dresses with cowl backs and faux chain detailing. The pieces were created with patchwork print, sequins and black lace fabrics.

According to the designer, “The collection is inspired by a never ending fear of failure, holding one back from reaching full potential. It is inspired by a commotion of voices clouding one’s thoughts. The collection’s colorful pieces embellished with faux chain-detailing, tell the story of a woman’s escape from her inhibitions. Each look embraces her courage. The colours and combative prints help explain the exact that this collection embodies and how one woman’s inhibitions can become her very own strengths“.
